The masterpieces that we are today were not created by each of us alone.

We are built by people—the ones who taught us, challenged us, opened a door, spoke our names in rooms we had not yet entered, fed us, corrected us, believed in us, or simply made room for us to imagine ourselves differently. We are also built by neighborhoods, classrooms, workplaces, kitchen tables, movements, ancestors, and communities whose investments in us become part of what we carry forward. We ARE ALL community built. The question is: Who built you?

This year, Apprentice Learning’s Future of Us morning convenings invite us to gather around that question through story, conversation, and connection. Rooted in our Sankofa philosophy, we will look back to recognize what and who has shaped us, while asking what we are responsible for building—and leaving—for those coming behind us. This is communal wealth in practice: understanding that our knowledge, relationships, access, stories, mistakes, wisdom, and possibility are resources that become more valuable when they circulate.

Come ready to listen. Come ready to remember. Come ready to meet someone you might not otherwise meet and hear a story you might not otherwise hear. And come ready to consider this: If someone helped build you, whose future are you helping to build now?
