Our community deserves healthcare we can trust.

Black Americans carry some of the highest rates of chronic illness in this country including heart disease, diabetes, HIV and the burdens of pregnancy and birth. And yet, study after study shows that Black patients also carry one of the deepest levels of distrust in the healthcare system. That distrust is not irrational but resulting from generations of harm and neglect inside the very institutions that are supposed to heal us.

This is the impossible position so many of our people are in. We need care more and yet the systems meant to help us do not always feel safe. The Green Book for Health was built to close that gap.

Inspired by Victor Hugo Green's 1936 Negro Motorist Green Book, which guided Black travelers to safe places during segregation, the Green Book for Health is a national, community-driven health navigation initiative. By us. For us. We help Black patients find affirming, trusted providers and navigate the healthcare system with confidence and dignity.

Over the last year, we have built two free tools for our community: the Resource Guide, a trusted health navigation resource co-created with community members, and the Community Guide app, a directory that helps you find affirming providers near you based on real community experience.

We have come a long way. And we need our community to help us go further. We are fundraising within our community to raise $100,000.

The funds raised here will allow us to improve and expand the Community Guide app and put 5,000 physical copies of the Resource Guide into the hands of people who need it, through churches, barbershops, and community centers across the country.

This is community investment in the truest sense. Please help us build the guide our people deserve.
