In 1997, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlanta matched a kid from the Egan Homes housing project with a 25-year-old named Austin Scee (HBS '01). In 2016, that kid — Mike Gandy Auzenne — graduated from HBS himself, with Austin standing beside him in front of Baker Library.

PowerUP is how we scaled what worked for Mike. The core values of self-regulation, resilience, and respect are the soup. Martial arts is the spoon. One PowerUP instructor mentors 50+ scholarship kids at a time — and 56% of kids improve in every measured behavior after just 8 classes.
