Yesterday, concerned citizens in Juncos, Puerto Rico spotted a horse in serious distress on the side of the road and called Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare. We responded immediately drove out, secured him, loaded him into our trailer, and brought him to safety at our Río Grande facility.

We have not named him yet. And what he survived is nothing short of remarkable.

He came to us with a deep puncture wound to his left front forearm, severe rope and road burns, significant swelling in his left hind pastern, and extensive road burn across his entire left side and both hind hooves. Injuries consistent with being struck or dragged by a vehicle and left on the roadside.

Our team got right to work. He has received wound care, antibiotics, a tetanus vaccination, and daily monitoring. He is stable, he is eating, and he is showing us exactly who he is a fighter.

We are actively working with the Juncos municipal police to identify his owner and address this situation. In the meantime, he is safe, he is loved, and he is healing.

But recovery takes time, and it takes resources. Every donation goes directly toward Yeehaw's veterinary care, medications, feed, and daily needs as he heals.

Ayer, ciudadanos preocupados en Juncos, Puerto Rico vieron a un caballo en serias condiciones al lado de la carretera y llamaron a Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare. Respondimos de inmediato fuimos hasta allá, logramos asegurar el control del caballo, lo cargamos en nuestro tráiler y lo llevamos a un lugar seguro en nuestra finca en Río Grande.

Y lo que sobrevivió es verdaderamente extraordinario.

El llegó a nosotros con una herida de punción profunda en el antebrazo izquierdo, quemaduras severas de soga, inflamación significativa en el menudillo izquierdo trasero, y quemaduras graves de asfalto en todo su lado izquierdo y en ambos cascos traseros — lesiones consistentes con haber sido impactado por un vehículo y abandonado al borde de la carretera.

Nuestro equipo se puso a trabajar de inmediato. El ha recibido cuidado de heridas, antibióticos, vacuna contra el tétano, y monitoreo diario. Está estable, está comiendo, y nos está demostrando exactamente quién es — un guerrero.

Estamos trabajando activamente con la Policía Municipal de Juncos para identificar a su dueño y atender esta situación. Mientras tanto, El está seguro, está querido, y está sanando.

Pero la recuperación toma tiempo, y requiere recursos. Cada donativo va directamente hacia la atención veterinaria de Yeehaw, sus medicamentos, su alimentación y sus necesidades diarias mientras se recupera.
