The Sounds of Purple is a fan-organized Random Dance Play and community fundraiser celebrating BTS, music, and collective impact ahead of Day 1 of the ARIRANG concert in Chicago.

Inspired by BTS's messages of hope, self-love, resilience, and community, The Sounds of Purple: ARIRANG in Chicago aims to transform fan enthusiasm into meaningful community impact. Through dance, music, and charitable giving, attendees will help support the Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME)'s Music Therapy Program, expanding access to music-based services for children and youth throughout Chicago.

The strongest part of this initiative is the connection between BTS's message and music therapy. While fan events often focus on celebrating artists and building community, The Sounds of Purple seeks to channel that celebration into lasting impact.

This event brings together several goals at once:

Celebrating BTS and ARMY culture
Building community among fans
Supporting local artists and small businesses
Raising funds for music therapy programs serving local youth

As a result, the event offers meaningful opportunities for participation beyond dancing alone—whether through volunteering, donating, shopping with community partners, or sharing personal stories about music's impact.

Random Dance Plays have become beloved traditions within K-pop communities, welcoming participants of all ages and dance levels. Fans regularly travel from across Chicago, neighboring suburbs, and surrounding states—including Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan—to connect through music and shared experiences.
