This fall, our rusty old trailer will travel well over 200K to regattas ...can we PULL that distance and raise $20K to buy a new trailer?

EBR brings year-round programs to over 300 junior and masters rowers, both on the water and indoors. We transport our boats to 8-10 regattas and scrimmages per year, going everywhere from nearby Providence and Massachusetts, to hours away in New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey. Our precious cargo represents our largest capital investment, and the risks involved in hauling these boats is real. On any given trip, our trailer is moving hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment. Since we operate on a thin margin to keep our programs affordable, any problem on the road would bring our team activity to a standstill.

EBR is looking to purchase a new, large boat trailer. By replacing our current ~30-year old trailer, we greatly increase the safety of our drivers and equipment. A new trailer also gives EBR added flexibility for regatta entries by allowing a more diverse fleet of boats to be transported, and the improved setup will make the loading process for our rowers easier and less strenuous.

East Bay Rowing is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based on the Eastern shores of Rhode Island. We have experienced massive growth and changes in the 10 years since our first season when we had just 10 junior athletes and a few Zephyr single sculling boats. In the ensuing years, we added programs, boats and friends. EBR alumni rowers have gone on to college-level programs, both varsity and club, repping schools all over the country in competitions and friendly regattas. Our early rowers have grown into coaches and our tiny fleet has grown to nearly 30 boats. We have been blessed with gracious and generous rowers, families, friends and donors over the years who have given us their boats, time, food, funding, training and storage space.
