How it all started

The Feels began in 2017 when Tori (Founder) had the idea to produce an art show. She wanted to highlight artists in the Seattle area and bring the community together. What was just supposed to be an art show, turned into a large scale, multidisciplinary, creative event. There were 4 artists showcasing, a DJ, two live performers, and a couple of craft vendors. With such a good turn out and positive feedback, the event grew even more the following year.

By the 2018 showcase, Tori had brought in the other half of The Feels, Zach Self. He became an integral part of the vision and mission. The showcase featured 15 artists, 5 DJs, 3 live performers, a multitude of food and craft vendors.

Getting to the bigger picture

100% of the proceeds for the first two shows went to local non-profit organizations that supported youth of color. By year three (3), they decided to start cultivating their own initiatives by utilizing the funds raised to create and facilitate youth arts programming for kids of color and their parents, focusing on art workshops that feature teaching artists from The Feels showcases and broader community network. Their ultimate goal is to launch The Feels Foundation which will provide art programs and funding for artists of color and all ages. The Seattle arts community is something they value deeply and want to give back as much as possible.

Perseverance is the only way

With Covid hitting the world hard in 2020, they were forced to turn their 5th year showcase into a virtual fundraising event. Although they will miss seeing everyone’s beautiful faces in person, Tori and Zach are so excited for this year’s quarantine-style event. The showcase will consist of all the feels from the last 5 years and also new artist works. They cannot wait to show you everything they have worked on and the evolution of the show.
