I signed up for my very first long-distance cycling ride in 1996 after losing my best friend to complications from AIDS, and I fully expected that ride to be a one-and-done. Well, boy was I wrong.! After riding in 2 Tanqueray, 3 Walgreens, 1 Sunshine Ride for AIDS and 20 SMART Rides, I thought my cycling adventures were finally coming to an end with the announcement that the SMART Ride would be discontinued following the 20th year anniversary for that amazing charity. Once again, I was wrong! I am so thrilled that the Joy Ride of Florida has been established to fill the void left by the SMART Ride discontinuation.
I am proud to have registered for the Joy Ride of Florida for what will be my 27th ride to help support those affected or infected by HIV/AIDS. The agencies who support those affected depend on fundraising events, and the money raised by past rides have been a big part of their ability to provide those much-needed services to their clients.
If you’d like to help make this maiden voyage of the Joy Ride of Florida a huge success, please make a donation by visiting my home page, and remember no donation is too big or small in helping those in need.
Thank you for making a difference, peace and love!
