Stand With Us. Help Us Keep Fighting for the Truth.

A direct appeal from The Local Lowdown Podcast to our community

To our readers, our viewers, and the neighbors who quietly share our work with the people they trust —

We need to ask you for help.

We have spent every day pursuing the kind of journalism this community has been missing for too long. We have filed the records requests no one else would file. We have followed leads others walked away from. We have published the truths that some powerful people in this region wanted kept buried. And we have done it because the Golden Isles deserves better, and because our children deserve to grow up in a place where the truth is louder than the lies.

You have been with us. We know that. Many of you read every story. Many of you share our work privately with family, friends, and neighbors. And many of you have told us, in private, that you support what we are doing but cannot say so publicly — out of fear of retaliation, of professional consequence, of social pressure in a small community where powerful people have long memories.

We understand. We have lived that fear ourselves.

We have been targeted for this work. We have felt the pressure firsthand. So we will never, ever ask you to pay that price publicly. Your support, in whatever form, can remain entirely confidential. We will protect your name the way we protect our sources — without exception.

But we are at a point where we cannot continue this work alone.

Why we need your help

Investigative journalism is expensive. Open records requests carry fees. Public document reviews take hours. Keeping our site online, our communications secure, and our reporting going requires resources we have, until now, largely covered ourselves. To keep going — and to grow — we need this community to step up alongside us.

Our vision is bigger than where we stand today:

We want to grow The Local Lowdown Podcast into the trusted, mainstream voice of news in this region — eventually expanding into a full local media organization, Golden Isles Media Group, that serves the entire community.
We want to build a philanthropy arm so the impact of our work extends beyond the page — into real, tangible help for neighbors in need.
We want our children to inherit a community where corruption cannot hide in the shadows, and where local journalism is something this region is proud of.

Our promise to you

Every single dollar contributed will be tracked. Every dollar will be publicly accounted for. Donors — and any member of the public who asks — will be able to review exactly where your money went and what it accomplished. That accountability is not optional. It is the same standard we apply to the public officials we cover. We will not ask of you what we will not deliver ourselves.

A note on the opposition

There is a small but determined group in this community that wants us gone. They want this work to stop. We take that not as a threat, but as confirmation that we are doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing — uprooting darkness and corruption so our children have a better place to call home.

The truth has never had loud defenders in places where it costs something to speak it. That is what we are trying to be. That is what your support makes possible.

How you can help

Contribute. $5, $25, $100, or more — whatever you can give. Every amount matters. Recurring monthly support, even at small levels, is what keeps the work sustainable.
Give anonymously. If public support is not safe for you, give quietly. We will protect your identity.
Share our work. Tell a friend. Forward a story. Show one person why this matters.
Stay with us. Sign up for our updates. Read our reporting. Be part of the audience that makes this work possible.

We cannot do this without you. We will not stop fighting for the truth. We will not stop fighting for each and every one of you.

Thank you for believing this community deserves better. Thank you for believing that an independent press can still mean something here. We are honored to keep going — because of you.
