The New Local

The New Local Nonprofit (TNL) champions local, female-identifying and nonbinary artists, while building bridges between these creators and the broader community. We focus our outreach towards the most vulnerable populations within Boulder county, fostering accessible, innovative arts education for everyone.

In 2023, we launched TNL Community Arts Initiative, bringing our mission of accessible arts education into the larger Boulder community through classes, workshops and art programs, all taught by our roster of talented creators. Since opening our doors on West Pearl St. in Nov. of 2022, we have championed the creative work of 130 local, female-identifying/nonbinary artists in our downtown gallery and Annex.

In our 1st year open we have:

- Provided 31 Art Scholarships for children to attend after school art classes and camps

-Held 5 free, community, all ages art workshops at our Downtown HQ

-Hosted 2 local schools for free field trips in the arts for International Women's Day

-Opened our financial aid application for art workshops to all children under 18 and adults over 65

-Taught 109 workshops and camps to children, adults and families

-Forged lasting partnerships with several local nonprofits and community outreach programs.

As we continue to expand and develop our community programs, we are partnering with local organizations who help us to reach a wider group of underserved populations. We are proud to pioneer a number of 'firsts' for Boulder, including: hosting the inaugural Dia De Los Muertos procession down Pearl Street (in collaboration with El Centro Amistad), piloting the first International Women's Day Festival in Boulder and launching Sundays on West Pearl (family art on the lawn!) in collaboration with Downtown Boulder Partnership in 2024.

What will your support go towards?

As we continue to grow exponentially, we need help in implementing our innovative programs.

Up to this point, TNL has run on passion, grit and a tiny, tenacious team of volunteers and underpaid staff.

While most grants support specific programs, they do not support general operating funds, thereby allocating no budget for staff.

This is where support from you - our community - comes into play!

Your donation empowers us to hire the help that we need, while ensuring that we can continue to pay our current staff a modest, living wage.
