At Shared Kitchen Ithaca, we believe great food businesses can begin anywhere — with a family recipe, a market table, a food cart, or simply the hope of building something better.

But for many emerging food entrepreneurs, access to a licensed commercial kitchen is one of the biggest barriers to getting started.

Thanks to a recent grant, we were able to subsidize the shared kitchen costs for under-resourced entrepreneurs, helping local makers launch products, test ideas, grow businesses, and create income for themselves and their families.

To continue creating opportunities for emerging food entrepreneurs, we are asking our community to help keep affordable kitchen access within reach for the makers and small businesses who rely on Shared Kitchen Ithaca.

That is why we created The Stone Soup Fund.

Inspired by the folktale Stone Soup, this fund is built on a simple but powerful idea: when a community comes together, even small contributions can create something meaningful.

In the story, each person adds what they can, and together they create a meal that none of them could have made alone.

That is exactly what happens at Shared Kitchen Ithaca every day.
