Our sister newspaper The Wilson Times joined a coalition of news outlets that retained North Carolina's top media law attorneys to secure information from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services on COVID-19 outbreaks at nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Through parent company Restoration NewsMedia, your newspaper played a role in obtaining these vital public records.

We've also partnered with the Local Media Foundation to support our coverage of the novel coronavirus pandemic. LMF is raising funds for educational activities; specifically, to educate the public on COVID-19 issues. LMF is providing funds to this news organization and many others to support this important educational project. All money raised by this effort will go directly to support COVID-19 reporting, to make sure the public has essential facts on this important topic.
