Lake Conference Maine is an all-day event bringing together more than 300 lake volunteers, advocates, and community scientists to share experiences, information, and learning opportunities. Co-hosted by Lake Stewards of Maine and Maine Lakes, this year’s event will be held at the University of Maine Orono on Friday, June 12.

The 2026 conference theme is Lake Resilience in the Face of Change. Conference speakers will focus on ways we can adapt our shorelines (and our behaviors) to best protect our lakes, making them resilient for a changing and uncertain future.

Keynote speaker Keith Carson, Director of Environmental and Science Communications at Maine Conservation Voters and former NewsCenter Maine meteorologist, will share his expertise on ways to communicate effectively about climate change science and motivate people to make positive changes for the future of our lakes in the face of change. Other speakers will cover volunteer engagement, managing forests for fish habitat, the impact of the drought on our lakes, and much more.
