Tis the season to be - OPTIMISTIC!

We all have suffered so much since the pandemic which turbo charged our already boosted opioid epidemic in the United States. The isolation of many youth led to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues which coincided with drug cartels ramping up their fentanyl transports into the United States. This was done intentionally and purposefully and our children suffered the consequences as did the families and friends they left behind.

But let me say this for the first time in a long time... TXAF feels POSITIVE about the future and the changes that are fast approaching. A more secure border, an abundance of awareness, less stigma, more harm reduction aids such as Naloxone and TheFentanylTest strips, better legislation and our interdisciplinary curricula that can be rolled out to any of the 50 states that integrates fentanyl education into every subject from middle school through high school (The Tucker Project)... it's safe to say we feel hope for the first time in a long time.

With that being said, we know that this time of year tends to be the hardest for the families who have lost loved ones to this poison. Nothing we can say will bring them back however, we can promise to honor them and always remember their names and faces - they deserve to be remembered. Sadly, due to the large volume of lives lost, there is power in numbers and because we have lost so many, our work is that much more important... NOW, someone may actually LISTEN!

BUT we need YOUR HELP!

As a 501 (c)(3) we are funded only by donations and while we know that for many of us, these last few years have been challenging... tack on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, then GIVING TUESDAY... it may seem overwhelming.

If you have the extra money to donate any amount between now and Tuesday to our Giving Tuesday fund, we would be so grateful. Money will be spent on a variety of needs - from speakers travel and table set ups, to school assemblies, Naloxone, booth payments across the state, the list goes on. We do all of this for free and we need your help to continue. We finally have an ear to listen for the first time in years... so lets MAKE SOME NOISE AND GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO LISTEN TO!
