When one of our own needs us, the jazz community shows up.

Guitarist and music educator Jim Josselyn has spent years on local, regional, and national bandstands, sharing his music with us all. Now it's our turn to play our part for his son, Andy.

In May, Jim's 23-year-old son Andy was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the nerves. Within days, he was paralyzed and could not breathe on his own. Over the following months, Andy fought through intensive care, rehabilitation, and two life-threatening setbacks, including treatment at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

We're thrilled to share that Andy is now finally home. He's breathing on his own, working hard in physical therapy, and has even picked up a guitar again. But recovery from GBS takes time, and the road back to work and independence is still long.

So on Halloween, local musicians and friends are coming together at Triumph Restaurant & Brewery in Red Bank for an evening of live music in support of Andy. Every ticket and donation goes directly to Andy to help him through this in-between time as he recovers at home, including:

Living expenses until he's able to return to work
Residual hospital and doctor bills
In-home help and care, if needed

Can't make it? Any donation helps, and so does sharing this page with your friends.

Please know: We're so grateful to everyone who has supported Andy and his family, and we look forward to seeing you at Triumph on October 31! The benefit begins at 4:00 PM in the event room, and afterward we'll move to the main room and keep the party going with the band Ryan Gregg & Friends on the main bar stage. And who knows, a massive spooky jam session just might break out!
