ADD-ON AN OPTIONAL EXPERIENCE

OPTION A: Tuesday October 13 1:30pm-4:30pm @ River Community Church - 2130 N. Oliver St. (next to the conference venue). Step into the lives of low-income families in our community. The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is not just a presentation—it is a high-impact, immersive simulation that offers a glimpse into the real-world obstacles faced by those living in poverty. During this three-hour session, you will navigate a "month" of challenges, from balancing limited resources to interacting with various social systems. This experience is designed to build empathy, challenge stereotypes, and spark vital conversations about systemic barriers. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of poverty and leave with a renewed perspective on how we can work together to create lasting change.

OPTION B: Tuesday October 13 1:30pm-4:30pm @ River Community Church - 2130 N. Oliver St. (next to the conference venue). "The child may not remember, but the body remembers." Join us for an exclusive screening of RESILIENCE: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope, a powerful one-hour documentary that delves into the groundbreaking science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the global movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Following the screening, we will transition from inspiration to action with a guided discussion hosted by Jim Ott, a certified national trainer for the aha! Process. This session is designed to break down the science, challenge the "suck it up" cultural narratives that punish behavior rather than treating its root causes, and equip you with actionable strategies to disrupt cycles of adversity. This is an opportunity to gain a deeper, science-backed understanding of childhood trauma and leave with concrete, trauma-informed tools to foster true resilience and lasting change in your community.
