Life keeps rolling, so keep the party alive.

In the year 2026, queer establishments have been criminalized in the state of Florida. The regulars at Heaven, a gay bar in rural Florida, have gathered the night before the law goes into effect to commemorate all of the love, life, and joy that have occurred within its walls. That’s not to say all is without trouble, though. Sam and Alex, who broke up “amicably” long ago, haven’t spoken since; Lucy is handling communication from her estranged, homophobic mother; and Andrew is drifting, feeling as though he’s finding and losing everything all in one night. With a hastily planned protest thrown into the mix, conflicts come to a head as the patrons discover and decide just what the important things are to themselves - and to each other.

Featuring the pop-rock music of The Scarlet Opera, The Place to Be is a new musical about love, community, perspective, and how the people around us get us through it all.
