Celebrating One's No Grad Left Behind (NGLB) program empowers high school seniors from disadvantaged backgrounds in Central Ohio to achieve educational and post-graduation success. We address the urgent need to improve educational outcomes for students from low-income, single-parent, and unstable households, who face significant barriers to completing high school and planning for their futures.

NGLB's two-generational approach provides comprehensive support to students and their families. Through workshops, mentoring, and incentives, we guide students toward high school graduation and equip them with the knowledge and resources to pursue college or career pathways. Simultaneously, we assess family needs and offer resources and referrals to ensure stability, recognizing that family well-being is crucial for student success.

With your support, we aim to serve 20 students in the 2024-2025 school year. Our performance objectives include:

Helping disadvantaged backgrounds graduate high school.
Guiding students to enroll in college or develop a post-graduation plan.
Empowering parents/guardians to confidently assist their children with the college application process.

During the school year, NGLB provides ongoing support and incentives to high school seniors throughout the school year to ensure they achieve the two core goals. The program uses a 3-pronged approach to supporting our students.

Workshops

First, we offer 5-7 workshops throughout the year to cover life-skills and academic topics. Recent workshops have included: financial wellbeing, emotional wellbeing and stress management, and professional networking. For students who are considering college, we also offer workshops on: scholarship application basics, FAFSA, the college application process.

Mentoring

each student is given a mentor to support them through the program. Staff and volunteers connect with students to provide personalized encouragement and support. When possible, we match students with volunteer mentors who are knowledgeable about the student’s academic and professional goals.

Incentives

Students who actively engage in workshops and mentoring are eligible for a wide variety of incentives that are practical (e.g. $500 scholarships, school fees, and ACT test fees) and fun (e.g. prom tickets and graduation attire).

Incentives help keep students actively engaged throughout the year, they feel more connected to their school community, and they have short-term nudges that help them stay motivated throughout the year.
