Kūlanihāko‘i High School, the long awaited Kihei public high school, is building its band program from the ground up; no legacy uniforms, no long-standing inventory, no decades of equipment to rely on. Just determination, heart, and students who show up every day ready to work. Just down the road at Lokelani Intermediate, eager students are practicing on instruments that are decades older than their teachers, and having real uniforms has only ever been a distant dream.

Let’s Give South Maui's Students the Band They Deserve!

This fall, we are facing a heartbreaking reality: some of our most dedicated students will not have an instrument to play.

Here in South Maui, we have incredible kids with a deep love for music. But the truth is, our band programs are running on empty, and the schools simply cannot provide any more funding or equipment.

These kids show up every single day ready to work. Band is their safe haven, their community, and their passion. They have the talent and the drive; they just don't have the hardware.

We need your help to bridge the gap.

When a student holds a quality instrument that actually works, or puts on a real uniform that fits, everything shifts. They stand taller. They play with pride. They know their hard work matters and that their community believes in them.

Here is exactly how your donation helps today:

$35 – Keeps the music playing! Buys a box of reeds for our woodwinds or essential maintenance kits (valve oil, slide grease) for our brass.
$75 – Buys a brand-new piece of sheet music for the entire band to learn and perform.
$80 - Outfits a concert band student in formal concert-band attire they can be proud of.
$100 - Repairs and refurbishes an instrument.
$250 – Outfits one marching band student with a complete, sharp-looking uniform so they can step onto the field with confidence.
$650 – Puts a used but good, playable standard instrument (like a trumpet, flute, or clarinet) directly into a student's hands who would otherwise go without.
$1,500+ – Makes a massive impact toward our largest, most expensive necessities, like tubas, drumline equipment, or outfitting an entire section with new gear.
$6,000 buys a new, quality instrument such as a Tuba or Saxophone that can be used for many years and benefit many students.
