As part of an upcoming event in Seattle, "She Stands with Gaza," highlighting the stance of feminist activists, Fertile Ground is partnering with Women In Black Vancouver, CPR (Communities who Protect and Resist) and BED (Blue Earth Defense) to highlight an organization called CleanShelter.org. Clean Shelter is committed to building, maintaining, and improving shelter solutions for Gaza’s most vulnerable people.

The two founders — Tom Kellner, an Israeli woman based in Berlin, and Seba Abudaqar, a Palestinian woman based in Munich — will join us on video to talk about their work. With performances by author and slam poet champion Dominique Christina and the Indigenous poet Chrystos, this promises to be an important, informative evening.

Education about what Clean Shelter does is vital because it mobilizes both resources and awareness for people who have lost the most basic human need: safe shelter. In Gaza, where ongoing conflict and displacement leave families without homes, clean and dignified shelter solutions mean more than a roof — it helps reduce the spread of illness as well as providing safety, stability, and hope.
