Story
The Big Three auto companies (Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis) are reporting record profits: $21 billion the first half of this year, and a quarter trillion in the past decade. UAW autoworkers who make the companies run deserve a fair share of the profits they bring in, and the companies can afford it. But rather than agree to fair contracts that meet members’ demands, the Big Three have been dragging their feet in negotiations.
On September 14, the historic UAW Stand Up Strike began at three units in Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio. Big 3 workers in UAW Region 6 (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai‘i, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington) are ready to join them on the picket lines as soon as they are called. And as of 9/22, four units in Region 6 – Local 230, Local 492, Local 2162, and Local 6645 – have joined the historic Stand Up Strike.
This fund will be used to support the Big 3 Strike in Region 6 and the Region 6 Big 3 striking members who experience hardship as a result of lost pay/benefits.
