UH MSA is entirely student-run and hasn't changed much in one respect: nobody's paying for it but us and the people who believe in our visions. Every year, people quietly step in and cover what we need.

Here's what your donations turn to:

General Body Meetings — a few hundred students in the same room, several times a year
Socials & signature events — Panel at the Park, Muslims Got Talent, and the ones people still bring up years later
Chaplaincy — personal and spiritual guidance, accessible and nearby, for students who need it
Dawah — so students, faculty, and staff across campus get a real picture of what Islam is
Jumu'ah — every single week, without fail

No amount is too small. We mean that. Small gifts are the whole model.

We've never had a single donor holding us up, and we're not trying to find one. Every year was built by a lot of people giving what they could. Is this a harder way to run an organization? Yes, but it also means UH MSA answers to the community it serves, and nobody else.

Founded in 1964, the UHMSA was established to provide a welcoming space for Muslim students at the University of Houston from all backgrounds and cultures. Our mission is to build a unified and empowered Muslim community through social events, education, public service, and outreach programs. We aim to strengthen our community while also educating and enlightening the broader public about the true teachings of Islam and the essence of being a Muslim.
