Have you experienced the power of books from a young age? Remember what they made you feel? How they transported you to different worlds, or how they gave you characters that felt like your own friends? Books teach us to think. They teach us to care for one another. They show us that we aren't alone, that it's okay to feel, or that we have the power to do great things.

But there are many kids in America who don't have a single book in their home.

Take Suzy for example. Suzy lives in an underserved area of a big city. Both of her parents work multiple jobs to get by, and they only have money for the bare essentials. They don't have any books in their home, and because of that, Suzy won't get to experience the feelings you had from reading books. Not only that, but a love of books also correlates with academic performance, so her grades might not be as good, and she might not have opportunities to go to college or get a high-paying job in the future.

It takes an organization like Operation Literacy to make sure Suzy has access to books so she can have a fighting chance at a bright future.

You can help children like Suzy by donating to Operation Literacy's Story Explorium project. The Story Explorium will be a mobile booth Operation Literacy will take to events to sell goods and fund its operations. Visitors will be able to buy Story Explorium-branded t-shirts, candles, totes, wax seals, and more that will go on to fund Operation Literacy's mission to help kids like Suzy. When you donate as little as $10 to get the Story Explorium off the ground, Operation Literacy can turn that into $100 or more toward helping children.
