Lafayette is a community of problem solvers. Here at The Current, we call these often unsung heroes, Wavemakers.

Wavemakers are people who demonstrate selflessness in their work or service, creativity in problem solving, a passion for Lafayette and a vision for its future. They can come from any sector — health, education, business, public service, nonprofits, communities of faith — and contribute at any scale, big or small.

We celebrate them with the Undercurrent Awards.

🌊 Who, What, When, Where

Our 6th Annual Undercurrent Awards is produced by The Current and David Begnaud’s Do Good Crew.

The event will be held Sunday, October 4 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in downtown Lafayette and hosted by David Begnaud.

It will be filmed for a special 30-minute television special to be simulcast on KLFY, KATC and KADN in November 2026. Final date to be announced…stay tuned!
