Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to wrestle, compete, and grow—regardless of financial circumstances. Through the support of our community, we provide scholarships, travel assistance, equipment, and competitive opportunities that help our athletes build confidence, discipline, and character both on and off the mat.

For the 2026-2027 wrestling season, we are planning a robust schedule of folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling training, alongside local and travel tournament competitions. Expenses are covered by monthly membership fees and donations from the community. We are asking for your support to help fund:

Training equipment and mats
Scholarships so no wrestler is left behind because of cost

Live Oak Wrestling Club (LOWC) was founded in 2017 by Coach Jay Reyes, a long-time educator and coach who moved to the Santa Cruz area in 2016. Coach Reyes started wrestling competitively in middle school and continued his wrestling career through college. After completing his degree in Human Performance and Sport, Coach Reyes was eager to return to the classroom and the mat.

Coach Reyes established LOWC to provide students with year-round opportunities to stay active and participate in wrestling tournaments outside the regular school season. Since then, the club's mission has expanded with a goal to help wrestlers "be better than they were the day before, in every single aspect of their lives." Coach Reyes is passionate about the sport of wrestling and believes in its ability to build both strength and confidence in all participants.
