Help us bring hope, gratitude, and a Turkey to at least 500 families across the Carolinas!

A Tradition Born From Humble Beginnings

Every great act of kindness begins with a story. Ours began more than a decade ago with a young boy growing up in Chicago who knew what it meant to go without.

Long before Eddie Garcia became the founder and CEO of Realty of America, he was a child growing up in poverty. His family shared a small, one-bedroom apartment with another family, relied on food pantries, and often struggled to afford life's basic necessities.

Thanksgiving was especially difficult. While other families gathered around tables filled with food, Eddie's family sometimes couldn't afford a turkey to celebrate.

Those childhood experiences never left him.

As Eddie grew older and found success in real estate, he made a commitment to give back to the communities that had shaped his life. He wanted to make sure other families experiencing financial hardship could enjoy the Thanksgiving traditions he had missed growing up.

And so, more than 13 years ago, a Thanksgiving tradition of giving was born in Chicago.

What began as a local turkey giveaway through Realty of Chicago grew into something extraordinary.

Year after year, real estate professionals, local businesses, volunteers, and generous neighbors came together with one shared purpose: to help families experience the warmth, dignity, and joy of Thanksgiving.

When Eddie founded Realty of America, that same spirit of generosity became part of the company's culture.

In 2025, Realty of America's Thanksgiving turkey giveaway reached 23 markets across the country, bringing people together in a nationwide effort to serve their communities.

And now, in 2026, we're proud to bring this beautiful tradition to the Carolinas for the very first time!
