We Are Raising the Final Funds! Help Us Bring Meals Directly to Neighbors Who Need Them Most

No one should have to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table. Yet across Broome and Tioga Counties, many families, seniors, and individuals face food insecurity every day. For some, transportation barriers, limited mobility, or living in rural areas make accessing nutritious meals even more difficult.

That's why the Junior League of Binghamton is partnering with CHOW to launch the Mobile Community Kitchen & Eatery—a fully equipped food truck that will bring free, nutritious, ready-to-eat meals directly into underserved neighborhoods.

For more than 95 years, the Junior League of Binghamton has turned community needs into lasting solutions. From helping create beloved community resources like the Discovery Center and Story Garden to supporting innovative educational initiatives throughout our region, we have a proud history of building projects that create meaningful, long-term impact.

Today, we're taking on one of our community's most pressing challenges: hunger.

The Mobile Community Kitchen & Eatery will travel throughout Broome and Tioga Counties on a rotating schedule informed by community need. The truck will provide hot meals and grab-and-go options in a welcoming, stigma-free environment, ensuring that neighbors can access healthy food where they live, work, and gather.

Through our Drive to Thrive Campaign, we're raising the final funds needed to bring this innovative project to life.

As CHOW Executive Director Les Aylesworth shared:

"When the Junior League of Binghamton approached me wanting to do a food truck that could bring fresh made meals to food deserts and utilize recovered food in the process, I almost couldn't believe it. We were already working toward a prepared meal program, and the alignment was uncanny. At CHOW, we're not afraid to try big, bold, innovative ways to stop hunger, and neither is the Junior League."

This project is already gaining momentum thanks to generous support from the Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation, The Community Foundation, and the NAILBA Charitable Foundation. But we still need your help to cross the finish line.
