Children are getting phones as early as 5 years old and using screen media. Children 8-10 on average are spending 6 hours per day on non-school screens and media. While technology can be useful, excessive screen use is associated with less physical activity, disrupted sleep, and emotional health concerns. Too much time on tablets and devices can also replace valuable opportunities for sunlight, face to face connection, creative play, and connection with friends and nature.

A Heart of an Angel “Screens Down, Heads Up” teaches educational wellness programs, we combine physical activity, nature exploration, health education, social emotional learning, enrichment, confidence building, and leadership development. Children are encouraged to put down their screens, move their bodies, use their voices, connect with others, and have an memorable experience with friends

One child entered our program believing he could not climb a tree because of his size. Another child encouraged him, showed him how, and stayed beside him as he tried. The moment was about much more than climbing a tree. It was about confidence, kindness, leadership, connection, and discovering what was possible.

Several children who participated in our programs are now in high school and still stay in contact with us. Those lasting relationships remind us that when children feel seen, supported, and included, the impact can continue long after the program ends.

Your support of A Heart of Aloha will help us continue bringing these meaningful programs to children and families throughout our community. Together, we can help children grow stronger physically, emotionally, socially, and academically. 🌺❤️
