The Northampton Information Project was created to help residents make sense of local civic issues with clear, sourced, and accessible information. In a time when local conversations can become confusing, fragmented, or driven by conflict, we focus on public documents, public data, and public meetings so residents can better understand what is happening in their community and why it matters.

Our main work right now is the Northampton Information Hub, where we turn complicated local topics like school funding, city budgets, public meetings, infrastructure projects, and policy decisions into plain-language explainers, graphics, meeting summaries, and sourced social media posts. This work takes time, energy, and, as a result, money. Maintaining an active social media presence means researching issues, reviewing public records, creating graphics, writing clear captions, moderating discussion, correcting mistakes when needed, and making sure residents have access to reliable information in a format they can actually use.

We are raising money to sustain the Hub’s current social media presence and expand the Northampton Information Project into new spaces. That includes reaching residents through additional social media platforms and generally creating more accessible ways to share reliable local information. We also hope to increase in-person civic engagement by creating easier ways for people to look up reliable local information and feel more comfortable asking questions, following local decisions, and participating in Northampton’s civic life.
