There are some animals who enter our lives and instantly leave an indelible mark upon our hearts. They look at us with eyes that hold a depth of innocence and resilience that takes our breath away. Trinity Sockbottom Grace is one of those rare, extraordinary souls. This beautiful, sweet Boxer baby girl has endured more pain, confusion, and medical trauma in her short time on this earth than any living creature ever should. Yet, through it all, she still wags her tail. She still leans into the warm hands of her caregivers. She still wants to love and be loved. We are trying our absolute hardest to give her the beautiful, pain-free life she so incredibly deserves, but today, we find ourselves facing a mountain we simply cannot climb alone. We are coming to you with open, heavy hearts to ask for your help.

Trinity’s entry into this world was far from the peaceful, comforting experience a puppy should have. Her struggle began before she even took her first breath. During birth, little Trinity became dangerously stuck in the birth canal for several grueling hours. It was an agonizing period of severe distress for such a fragile new life. When she was finally brought into the world, it was immediately clear that the trauma of her birth had left a mark: one of her delicate rear feet was visibly, terribly injured.

Wanting only the best for this fragile newborn, her breeder immediately sought urgent medical attention. A bandage was carefully applied to protect her wounded foot, and the medical advice given at the time was to return Trinity to the loving warmth of her mother. But the bond between a mother dog and her pup is fierce and deeply instinctual. Trinity’s mother knew, with that profound maternal intuition, that something was wrong with her baby. She smelled the medication; she saw the unnatural bandage wrapped around her tiny pup’s leg. Driven by a desperate, instinctual urge to clean her baby and remove what she perceived as an obstruction, the mother dog began to chew at the bandage. She meant absolutely no harm—she was simply a mother trying to comfort and heal her wounded child in the only way she knew how. Tragically, in her frantic attempt to help, she accidentally removed a significant portion of Trinity’s foot along with the bandage.

It was a heartbreaking, devastating accident. Recognizing that Trinity needed specialized, round-the-clock intensive medical care that went beyond their capabilities, she was surrendered to our rescue. Her name "Sockbottom" came to be because we kept her bottom in a sock to keep the damaged foot clean while being transported to us. When we first laid eyes on her, our hearts broke, but our resolve hardened. We promised this tiny, battered Boxer pup that we would fight for her. We waged a fierce battle to save the remaining portion of her foot. For weeks, our dedicated team administered round-the-clock antibiotics. We sat with her through endless, gentle soakings, comforting her as we cleaned her wounds. We utilized advanced laser treatments to promote cellular healing and carefully applied topical medications day after day. There were times when we held our breath, praying the tissue would survive. And miraculously, because of her fighting spirit and our unwavering dedication, we won that battle. We were able to save the remaining portion of her foot. We wept tears of relief, thinking the hardest part of Trinity's life was finally behind her.

But life, it seems, had more hurdles for this sweet girl to jump. As we walked alongside her in her healing journey, we began to notice other signs that warranted attention. A veterinary check-up revealed a grade 2 heart murmur vibrating within her little chest. Holding our breath once more, we rushed her to a veterinary cardiologist for a comprehensive echocardiogram. The waiting room felt cold as we wondered how much more this puppy could take. Thankfully, the universe granted us a small mercy. The echo revealed a slight congenital defect in her heart, but the incredible news is that the specialists believe this will not severely impact her long-term quality of life. She will need a careful follow-up appointment when she turns one year old to monitor the defect, but our hearts swelled with bright hope. We thought, finally, Trinity could just focus on being a happy, playful, growing puppy.

Tragically, all of that beautiful, hard-won good news—the triumph of saving her foot and the relief of a manageable heart condition—was not where Trinity's painful story ends.

Just a few short weeks ago, a terrifying new shadow fell over Trinity’s life. Without any warning, this precious girl suffered a seizure. To say it was scary would be a profound understatement; it was absolutely paralyzing and devastating for her loving foster family to witness. Watching this helpless, sweet puppy lose control of her body, thrashing and confused, is an image that will forever haunt the kind souls caring for her. They held her as she recovered, stroking her fur, crying, and fearing for her very life.

Initially, we clung to the desperate hope that it was an isolated incident—perhaps an environmentally triggered event, a sudden spike in stress, or an anomaly. But our hopes were shattered less than two weeks later when she suffered a second violent seizure. And then, an agonizingly short week after that, a third. The storms in her brain are increasing. In the quiet, lingering days between these major episodes, Trinity is simply not herself. On some days, she seems profoundly "off"—she is grumpy, deeply confused, and clearly uncomfortable. Our greatest, most terrible fear is that on these foggy days, she is silently enduring focal seizures, her little brain misfiring and robbing her of her joy and peace.

We immediately scheduled a consultation with a veterinary neurologist. The conclusion was clear and urgent: Trinity needs an MRI to see exactly what her precious brain is facing. We need to know what is causing these terrifying electrical storms so we can properly medicate her and give her back her life.

This vital diagnostic imaging, layered on top of the weeks of intensive foot care, laser therapies, cardiologist consultations, and echocardiograms, has created a mountain of medical debt. We are a rescue fueled by passion, love, and the desire to save the broken, but we are facing financial exhaustion. As you can imagine, all of this specialized care has been monumentally expensive.
