When our director's daughter, Reagan, was born with a brain injury in 2008 her family was thrust into a world that was totally unfamiliar. They would develop a new normal that involved frequent doctor's appointments, insurance denials, weekly therapies, multiple diagnoses, and an utter loss of hope.

Reagan needed equipment of all kinds to do the things that you and I take for granted like sitting, standing, eating, playing, and walking. When she outgrew this equipment, no one would take it back and it wasn't suitable for the landfill or scrapyard...it had lots of life left. Her family and some friends decided to take an initiative and begin to collect, sanitize, and redistribute items like her little pink walker and wheelchair to other kids that were desperately in need.

Sometimes insurance can take up to 6 months to obtain a piece of equipment. No one should have to wait to walk, sit, or stand. That's where our free pediatric equipment closet comes in. We provide free access to all types of pediatric medical equipment and supplies. In fact, we are the ONLY closet in PA that provides these items free of charge and with no insurance denial or proof of family income. If your child needs it and you make the trip, you get to take it home.

At a time when divorce rates are so high among families raising children with special needs and other caregivers stepping in to help, there's a huge need for multiple items. Insurance won't cover two of one type of device but having two means that the caregiver isn't having to transport items from place to place to get adequate care for their child.

We love that what we do provides equipment...what we REALLY love is that we also can provide hope, resources, and friendship along a new family's journey. It's a scary and isolating journey and it's best to have those around you who have been where you've been.
