The Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month Kick-Off isn't just a celebration — it's a movement rooted in history, community, and resilience.

In August of 1889, Native Hawaiians arrived in Utah and established what became known as Hawaiian Pioneer Day. That legacy of migration, faith, and cultural identity planted the seed for what we now know as:

Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month

🗓️ Officially declared by the Governor of Utah — August is recognized statewide as a time to honor the cultures, contributions, and voices of Pacific Islanders in Utah.

And every year, we begin that month with this powerful Kick-Off event.

👥 Who We’re Looking For:

🛍️ Vendors – Retail, food, art, crafts, and more. Reach 5,000–8,000 attendees from across Utah.

🎭 Performing Artists & Groups – Bring the stage to life with dance, music, poetry, or cultural performances.

🌴 Pacific Island Cultural Station Hosts – Share your island's language, history, traditions, and pride with the community.

🙌 Volunteers – From greeting guests to helping families and assisting vendors, we can’t do this without you.

It's about representation, education, and celebration.
It’s about ensuring Pacific Island voices are heard, valued, and seen — not just during August, but all year long.
