We're an independent nonprofit publication that tells the stories of makers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs — for free, with no pay-to-play. Since our founding, we've featured more than 200 creative entrepreneurs across our magazine, website, and newsletter, reaching nearly 1,000 readers who care about the people behind handmade work.

Like most independent nonprofit journalism, the editorial work runs on our editor's donated time — Artisan Joy's founder has never taken a salary for this work. Every dollar donated here goes directly to platform costs — ensuring that when a story is ready to publish, the infrastructure is in place to publish it.

We're relaunching in 2026 with a goal of publishing three maker stories a week — 150+ new features that would never exist without this publication. To get there, we need to know the platform is funded.
