Every community has strengths. Every community has needs. Mission Connections exists to connect the resources, skills, and people needed to help communities thrive. Medical Students from The University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine in Tyler, Texas, have partnered with Mission Connections and local community health workers in La Canoa, Santa Rosa, Guatemala to improve access to healthcare.

Since 2015, Mission Connections has partnered with local hospitals, clinics, churches, schools, and community organizations in Guatemala to improve health, education, and quality of life through sustainable, relationship-based service. Rather than creating short-term programs, we work alongside trusted local partners to identify needs, develop solutions, and strengthen communities together.

Today, Mission Connections coordinates medical, surgical, educational, and community development programs that serve thousands of people each year. Volunteer physicians, surgeons, nurses, medical students, churches, and community members work hand-in-hand with Guatemalan healthcare professionals and local leaders to provide compassionate medical care, medically necessary surgery, health education, provider training, clean water, improved cooking technology, and other projects that address locally identified needs.

Our work is built on a simple philosophy: lasting change happens through partnership, not charity. Local organizations identify priorities, participate in planning, and continue caring for their communities long after each volunteer team returns home.
