Many of you may know us here at BlueFeather, and many may just be finding us, so here is our story.

We have been rescuing horses, dogs and animals of all sorts since 2012. We became a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2022.
BlueFeather is completely offgrid in the desert of Nevada. We haul in water, hay, dogfood and all of our supplies. We have given sanctuary to over 40 horses, 20 current lifetime resident dogs and countless other animals in the last few years. This is our life, serving the animals discarded by humans. Making sure they have all that they need and that their lives are full of love, compassion and dignity. We pour in all of our heart, blood, sweat, soul, tears, and income into what we do here. It’s just what we do and we love helping these precious souls.

That being said..

We bought and moved to this property in 2016/17 with big dreams! Our plan was to fence and drill a well, then start on a home for us humans. We’ve been living in a toy hauler for 8 years.

Having a well on the property would be a dream come true, but simply an expense we cannot come up with. Our quote for a well in 2017 was $75,000 and with zero guarantee of hitting water. We have also had an exploration company drilling on the neighboring property and all over this valley that has reported finding zero water. So we were hauling water in by means of a 1992 F700 and a 1000 gallon haul tank. That truck blew a head gasket over the Summer. Thankfully we have a plan B, the use of a dually and 500 gallon tank. This means double the trips.

After thinking about this situation we have come to terms that this property is no longer sustainable for us.

That’s where things get tough. We need to move as soon as we can. But… every penny of our income goes into the rescue/sanctuary.

I mean every…. single….. penny..

We are asking for Angels out there to help us. We need a new place. A place with water. I don’t care about condition, we just need water.

We had huge dreams for this property, unfortunately after 8 years of trying to make those dreams a reality it’s time to accept they won’t happen here and it’s time to find a better and more suitable/sustainable property for those dreams.

We can haul water in the dually for now, but that is wearing on that truck. The cost to haul in water by a delivery service is $300 for 3000 gallons. We have this done at least twice a month, often 3 times.
Please consider helping with any amount. We appreciate each and every one of you Angels more than we can ever express.

Accomplishing this goal would mean we could save and provide sanctuary to countless horses and dogs in need.

🚨🚨🚨🚨UPDATE!! 🚨🚨🚨🚨We have found a property with a purchase price of just $150,000! An absolute dream property for the animals. 25 acres with 2 wells!! A barn, full solar and back up generators, fully fenced and cross fenced, trees!!!!!, and a house!!! With a shower! For 8 years we have had truck stop showers which I don’t mind but to be able to bathe at home after a long day of working would be amazing. And we could actually cook together! With John being in a wheelchair and us in a small toy hauler, cooking is limited to one person in the kitchen area. And only one burner, so I’ve become an expert one pot chef 😉

There is also a small cabin that we can utilize for volunteers or an Airbnb to help bring in more funds for the rescue!
And irrigation lines!!! We could have a garden again and a grass area for the dogs 🥰🐾

If we can purchase this property, we will be able to build and set up dog runs with enclosures for shelter from heat, rain, and all forms of weather. And a huge doggy play yard, along with an area for adopters to meet and get to know the dogs for adoption. 🐾 The horses would have 3 large pastures with nice shelters and trees. 🐴

There is ZERO animal control or rescue in the area of the property, leaving many animals in need of help. While we were checking out the property, the owner explained that numerous animals are abandoned in town every month. That’s where we can help! We absolutely feel like this is where we are needed!

We have tried and tried everything we can on this property. We absolutely love what we do but the time has come to move on from this place and find a far better situation for animals and us human caretakers.
