This donation will support one tutor for one year in a number of ways. It will fund them to develop new courses for KhSA, enabling them to access and build internationally-relevant skills that they can then transfer to other tutors and professionals, and cascade to the students in formal learning modules.. They will be required to cooperate with different academic institutions, bringing back skills and knowledge to rebuild Ukraine with best practices from around the world. They will conduct research, write papers and publish them, attending and presenting at international conferences, while having their basic living and travel costs covered through a stipend. This grant will help our tutors take an active part in the international academic community, and help shape a community of practice around the knowledge that they bring back to Ukraine.

Research topics under discussion include: 

• Prefab technologies and rapidly-constructed, energy efficient housing solutions as the basis for the reconstruction of existing panel housing and the construction of new prefabricated housing

• Heritage and/or construction of the past: conflicting histories, memories, and identities in the urban environment of contemporary Ukraine

• Developing systems for classifying heritage, past and contemporary urban and architectural typologies in Ukraine, as part of the development of a comprehensive weaving of theory, history and practice

• The study and systematization of existing approaches and methodologies for teaching architectural design in European, American, and Ukrainian schools of architecture, proposing and testing new education and training practices

Your support will: 

• Provide a Fellowship for one tutor for one year, enabling them to continue their professional development, train the professional community and students in Ukraine and establish a community of practice around critical topics of research
