We invite you to stand with us in the fight against one of the most pervasive and devastating human rights violations in our world today: Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Despite its widespread prevalence, VAWG often goes unreported, shrouded in impunity, silence, stigma, and shame.

VAWG manifests in various forms, including intimate partner violence, sexual violence and harassment, human trafficking, female genital mutilation, and child marriage. These acts not only cause immediate physical, sexual, and psychological harm but also result in long-lasting consequences that affect women at every stage of their lives. From limiting educational opportunities to restricting access to higher education and job markets, the repercussions are profound and far-reaching.

The United Nations General Assembly's 1993 Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women defines it as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion, or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life."

Today, despite the progress made, 45% of women report experiencing or knowing someone who has experienced VAWG. Shockingly, 7 in 10 women believe that verbal or physical abuse by a partner has become more common, and 6 in 10 feel that sexual harassment in public spaces has worsened, especially during the ongoing pandemic.

EmpowerHER: Uniting Against Violence aims to address this pressing issue head-on. On December 10, 2023, at Lillian Michel The Beauty Hub in Miami, FL, we will gather to raise awareness, educate, and provide crucial support to survivors. Our event will feature expert-led discussions, self-defense workshops, and inspirational talks to empower women, foster a sense of community, and advocate for change.
