What if every veteran who applied -- 41 applications from 24 states -- for a For Farmers Movement grant this year got at least $500?

We received 591 applications in 2026, and our review team has to make tough choices to pick the top 100. The Veteran Farmers Fund can make sure all 41 veteran-run farms in the pool get support, no matter how those choices land.

These farmers are asking for the practical, everyday things that keep a farm running.

The biggest group (10) wants to get food to customers in better shape, through farm stands, coolers, freezers and the equipment needed to get licensed to sell. Close behind (8) is fencing and predator protection, from a moose fence in Fairbanks to a perimeter fence keeping cattle off a highway in eastern Oregon. Seven are solving water, power or growing-condition problems, five are building or fixing animal housing, five need a specific tool, and the rest are expanding beehives, replanting after drought and freeze, or preparing orchards and pasture for the next stage.

Nearly all asked for close to our full $1,000 foundational grant, and most plan to do the labor themselves and cover the rest from farm sales, savings or military pensions.

At least 10 are already turning their farms toward other veterans through mentorship, a retreat for combat vets and their families, internships for service members leaving the military, and donating part of their harvest.

Every gift helps. It just takes 20 people giving $25 each to send one farm $500. And 100% of every donation goes to grants for veteran farmers.
