VMC's Story

VMC was founded in 1980 by Vietnam War veterans. Facing the challenges of returning to civilian life, they came together in Philadelphia to build a support system for veterans like themselves.

46 years later, we’re still going strong and our programs have grown to meet the needs of today’s veterans:

Housing assistance for homeless veterans
Job training and placement
Suicide prevention
Substance use support
Permanent housing
Financial wellness programs
Veteran benefits assistance
Free legal services

Meet a Veteran Helped by VMC

Holly Beckes served more than 11 years in the United States Air Force as a pararescue medic. Through VMC, she received support with housing, education, employment, and women veteran programs helping her build a path forward.

VMC funded her EMT training and provided transportation throughout the program. Today, she proudly works as an EMT and medical transport professional.
