The Vinton History Museum has teamed up with Roanoke Bear Theatre to present a one-act play, Land and Liberty. Written by David Walton, Jr., this play tells the story of Vinton's founding. This performance is being presented as part of the VA250 celebration happening this summer.

Each show will feature a pre-show performance by the Roaonke Valley Dulcimer Group. There will be small activities for the kids to engage in, and period costumes are welcome.

Want to make it a whole experience? Consider doing dinner after (or before) the shows performed on Friday and Saturday. For just $20 a plate, our guests will enjoy a specially catered meal featuring chicken, vegetables, rolls, dessert, and tea. All proceeds from theses dinner will benefit local non-profites.

The Vinton History Museum is intending to use their revenue from this event towards funding to resolve the limited access to the second-floor exhibits at the Vinton History Museum located in Downtown Vinton. This project, which is identified as “Rising to New Heights,” is intended to enhance accessibility and community engagement by directly addressing the challenge that our current steep and narrow staircase presents to any mobility-challenged visitors, volunteers and staff should they wish to access exhibits and resources on the second floor.

A smaller portion of the revenue will go to Roanoke Bear Theatre to further their non-profit work in creating a welcoming performance space that produces high-quality productions at reasonable prices.

The Friday night dinner will benefit the free Community Drive-Thru dinners taking place Sept. through May.
