The Problem

When temperatures drop, sleeping outside becomes dangerous. During the 2025 season, 436 neighbors came through our doors seeking safety. Together, we provided 6,330 bed-nights across the season. Each bed-night is a hot meal, a clean space, and real rest. Our average cost per stay was $18.47, well below national benchmarks.

Who You Help

Most guests are from the communities we serve every day. Many list Detroit, Warren, and Clinton Township as home cities. Guests are adults of all ages, with a median age near 52. A quarter report no health insurance. We use this data to improve outreach, focus resources, and stretch every dollar.

Who We Are

Founded in 2018, WAVE Project, Welcoming All Valuing Everyone, is a grassroots nonprofit based in Macomb County. We started with a monthly Outreach BBQ in Mount Clemens, where volunteers and neighbors sat together and shared stories. We listened, learned about the barriers, and built the services our community needed most.

Each year, we provide emergency shelter and thousands of showers, clothing items, food items, and hygiene essentials across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties.
