Why We're Launching This Campaign

Imagine learning to code, dreaming of working in tech — and then hitting a wall because you have no "real experience."

That’s the reality for thousands of students today. From freshmen and sophomores who can’t land their first internship, to new graduates who keep hearing "you're not experienced enough", the system is stacked against those trying to break into tech.

Many of these students:

Don’t have industry connections
Can’t afford unpaid internships
Face bias or lack of access as first-gen or international students

And yet, they're smart, driven, and full of potential.

At KindnessMatters Inc., we’re building a solution.

We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to bridge the gap between education and employment — by providing free, real-world training, mentorship, and project experience for students who need it most.

Our Program

In our pilot program, students will:

Collaborate on team-based tech projects
Mimic real engineering work environments
Receive 1-on-1 mentorship and career coaching
Practice mock interviews and polish their resumes

And it’s 100% free to them.

This support is especially critical for:

Freshmen and sophomores looking for that first experience
New college grads struggling to stand out in a crowded job market

Why We Need You

We’re launching group of 30 students, and we need to raise just $6,000 to get them started.

Cloud tools like AWS, GitHub, Jira and Figma
Mentor stipends
Resume and interview prep
Ongoing coaching and community support

Real Student Stories

Meet Sammit, a Computer Science undergraduate, Class of 2027 who joined our first internship cohort from May to August:

"Kindness Matters was a really helpful program for me to start off my career. I learned many new tools and learned how to work on a team during coding projects. I also became more familiar in a different coding language I have never seen before in PHP. It is a really helpful coding language in the EdTech industry. I also learned a lot from my peers who all come from different backgrounds in coding. Overall, Kindness Matters was very helpful for me to gain experience working on real world projects and it helped me build my craft as a rising software developer."

Meet Taha, a master’s student in Computer Science who joined our first internship cohort from January to April:

“I highly recommend the Software Developer Internship. During my time in the program, I gained valuable experience working with technologies like GraphQL, Spring Boot, and Docker. The learning environment was supportive and engaging, and I appreciated the opportunity to grow my technical skills. Special thanks to Hillary and Julie for their excellent guidance. They were always quick to help resolve any roadblocks I encountered.”

And meet Kushgra, a Computer Science undergraduate, Class of 2028:

“Participating in the internship program was a great experience. I worked on a full-stack project using Java, Vue.js, Docker, SQL, and GraphQL. The flexible schedule allowed me to balance coursework while still gaining hands-on experience. We also practiced agile workflows, sprint planning, and team stand-ups — giving me a real sense of how professional dev teams operate. This experience helped me grow both technically and professionally, and it strengthened my passion for a career in software development.”
