Story
When we launched the RAR Chapter program in 2021, we couldn’t have dreamed how successful and joyful this program would be. We’ve supported 11 Chapters in creating community, skill-sharing, and getting more BIPOC and FTWN-B folks on bikes across the country.
Over the last year, our Chapters have launched community gear libraries, hosted gravel camps, and created inclusive communities. After taking the last year to strengthen our resources and support for Chapters, we are excited to share that we will be expanding the RAR Chapter program in 2023!

With much appreciation and gratitude,
The RAR Team
Established in 2021, the RAR Chapter program seeks to connect RAR communities at regional levels through hosting rides, events, and workshops for BIPOC and FTWN-B folks. RAR provides resources and monetary support for their efforts. There are ten RAR Chapters across the U.S. Georgia, California, New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico.
The RAR Chapter Program Seeks to:
In 2023, we will continue to expand resources and skill-sharing opportunities to elevate existing and future Chapters. These resources include starter kits, Chapter networking, reference templates, and opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross-Chapter collaboration.
In addition to developing existing Chapters, we will grow the program up to 20 RAR Chapters, spreading more bike-joy across the US. Over 2023 and beyond, RAR Chapters will expand and deepen our communities’ impact on gender inclusivity and racial equity in cycling and the outdoors. Details will be released in early 2023.
Since 2017, Radical Adventure Riders (RAR) have created networks and programs to support FTWN-B* and BIPOC* folks in the cycling and outdoors scene. By continuing to offer education, connection, resources, and support, RAR hopes to expand and deepen our impact on gender inclusivity and racial equity in our communities and industries.
We recognize that there is much work that we, collectively, can do to create more safe, accessible, and inclusive spaces and opportunities for our genderqueer, women, and BIPOC relatives.
*FTWN-B is shorthand for femme, transgender, women, and non-binary. BIPOC is shorthand for Black, Indigenous, and people of color. We acknowledge that letters and labels only go so far and that, above all, we seek to respect whatever words people use to describe themselves. We hope to engage in a conversation where we can learn more about one another.
