The AHBA Shoebox Program is a community favorite!

The AHBA Shoebox Program began in 2002, starting with small shoeboxes and later growing into backpacks. What began with just 40 children has expanded to serving more than 1,000 each year—thanks to the generosity of our members and community partners who keep this tradition alive!

AHBA members look forward to providing a Secret Santa experience for elementary-aged children who might not otherwise have a Christmas due to financial hardship, homelessness or other challenges. By filling backpacks with gifts and essentials, we can help brighten the holidays.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE CAUSE

Pick up a backpack at the AHBA office (301 Arctic Slope Ave., Ste. 102) and fill it with goodies—age and gender information will be provided. To reserve your backpack(s), call 907-522-3605 or email ahbashoebox@gmail.com.

Sponsor a child with a $65 donation and let the AHBA elves do the shopping and stuffing for you!

Once all the backpacks are filled, they’re delivered to local schools and discreetly given to families. Thanks to your support, Christmas morning becomes a little brighter and more joyful for these children.
