In March 2023, at about 9.5 years old, Lacey was diagnosed with a Mast Cell Tumor and shortly after, we also discovered she had a soft tissue sarcoma. She had both removed, went through chemo, and also joined the Yale vaccine trial. Luckily both came back as low grade, not aggressive. In February 2025, during a routine check, a mass was found on her spleen, and then during surgery they also found a mass on her liver. Preparing for the worst, we were relieved when both came back as non-cancerous. At 11.5 years young, Lacey refuses to let anything hold her back and fully believes she is still a puppy (she is). She still loves joining in on adventures and loves playing with her brother, Bruno! We remain hopeful that she is one of the lucky ones and has taken on and fought through her cancer diagnosis!
