The cast iron sewage stack at 1527 Walnut Street in Anderson, Indiana cracked through last month. It is the original 1955 plumbing — the vertical pipe that carries waste from every bathroom in the building down to the city main. Three working-class families live in this three-unit brick building, and they need it fixed.

A flip investor — and there are plenty of them combing Anderson and Muncie right now — would patch the crack with a sleeve and a clamp for fifteen hundred dollars, then list every unit at "renovated" rates the moment a lease ended. In this market, that means a sixty-percent rent increase. The three families currently in this building cannot absorb that. They would leave. We don't do that. We do the full PEX-compatible stack replacement, the bath wall restoration the plumbers have to open, the city permit, and a small reserve for hotel lodging if water is shut off overnight. Total: $15,000. Rents do not move. The families stay.

The founder, Bharath, has personally committed $5,500 of his own funds to launch this campaign. Your gift unlocks the remaining $9,500. We are asking for one hundred and fifty donors at $108 each — or any combination that gets these repairs fully funded. Every gift goes to work the day it arrives.
