Founded in 2021, the Duluth Chamber Music Festival (DCMF) brings live chamber music to Minnesota’s Twin Ports region. What began as spontaneous house concerts organized by longtime friends and colleagues- co-founders Sayaka Tanikawa and Matt Young– has grown into a vibrant annual festival that connects worldwide musicians with the Duluth community in meaningful and uplifting ways.

At DCMF, we believe that music has the power to unite and inspire. Our mission is to serve the Twin Ports by bringing music into all corners of the community from concert halls to care centers. Through partnerships with local groups and outreach performances at youth organizations, assisted-living facilities, and hospitals, we make classical music accessible to everyone.

Our musicians join us from renowned ensembles and institutions such as the Cleveland Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, The Calidore Quartet, and the Juilliard School. Many of them have personal ties to Duluth and Minnesota, and all are passionate about forging lasting connections between performers and audiences. Each year, the festival season culminates with a concluding mainstage performance which is a celebration of community, artistry and shared experiences.
