This Saturday, the Westover Knights are playing an enclosed rooftop show in DC. As always, we’re partnering with a local nonprofit. This one is timely, and near to our hearts.

With pressure on immigrant workers intensifying across the city, Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate is one of the most direct ways to help the people who show up every day to feed us.

We’ll be at Onyx Rooftop Lounge on M Street, 12–5pm (21+). This one is also special with us celebrating the 50th birthday of our manager, Scott Rome. Scott has a deep personal connection to this cause through his wife Midori and their three kids, and a deep connection with the restaurant community through his work with the Veritas Law Firm. When it came time to pick a charity, the choice was easy.

Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate was founded in 2021 by DC chefs Tim Ma and Kevin Tien to fight anti-Asian violence through the power of food and community. Since then, they’ve raised more than $500,000 for AAPI organizations and small business owners, and earned the DC Mayor’s Community Service Award in 2023.

Right now, their Storefront Emergency Fund is doing something urgent: helping immigrant restaurant workers navigate a system that’s bearing down hard. Since last fall, the fund has covered immigration bonds, USCIS fees, attorney’s fees, court costs, and work permits. It already helped one DC teen (a dishwasher) get out of immigrant detention.

The Westover Knights have raised money for charities like Arlington Food Assistance Center, Bridges To Independence, and Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation. This AAPI Heritage Month, themed “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together,” we’re proud to stand with the chefs and restaurant workers who make DC great.

The retractable roof means this show goes on rain or shine!
