For over 15 years, we have relied on our walk-in cooler to keep our 70-90 bunnies, 4 goats, and 9 pigs fed with fresh greens every single day. This morning, we discovered it had finally given up on us, and all of our produce had gone bad overnight.

As you can imagine, our residents were not thrilled about this news.

We need your help, fast! We are replacing the cooler with a double-wide fridge in an enclosed room in our pig barn, along with an AC/Heat unit to keep the space temperature-controlled year-round. Here is what we need to make it happen:

Here is the exciting part: a generous donor has committed to matching up to $1,200 in donations, meaning every dollar you give is doubled. That means we only need to raise $1,260 from our community to get this done.

Since 1995 Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary (GLRS) has provided a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. We rescue rabbits from across Michigan and, when able, from other parts of the United States as well. Upon their arrival at GLRS, the rabbits are given medical care if needed and are spayed or neutered, after which they are ready to meet their potential adopters! GLRS is a no-kill facility. Those rabbits who are not eligible for adoption, either due to health or temperament, live out their lives peacefully at the sanctuary.

In addition to providing a safe and loving environment, GLRS also strives to educate the public about domestic rabbits, including rabbit care and behavior. Just as with cats and dogs, a rabbit may not be the best furry companion for a family. Our hope is that our educational efforts will mean fewer rabbits needing our help in the future.
