Common Ground Grief exists to ensure every child, teen, adult, and family has access to compassionate grief support regardless of their ability to pay. We create spaces where people feel seen, understood, and connected after loss.

Childhood grief profoundly impacts bereaved youth, families, and communities. The death of a parent or sibling is one of the most frequently reported adverse childhood experiences. Unaddressed childhood grief and trauma can lead to difficulties, including poor academic performance, mental health issues, and early mortality.

Among adults, loneliness has reached epidemic levels, affecting nearly 50% of adults, 79% of young adults, and up to 40% of older adults. Grief often exacerbates this disconnection, yet few accessible, community-based supports exist.

Why Orange County?

Although our programs began in Long Beach, requests for services have increasingly come from Orange County families, schools, and community organizations. We’ve had opportunities to partner with community organizations in Orange County and participate in events where we’ve heard a growing need for services like the ones we offer to be accessible in OC.

Our expansion is a direct response to that need.

Our Impact This Year:

1,500+ individuals served
4,485+ hours of grief support provided
808 volunteer hours
Two Family Camps serving more than 160 people
116 providers trained in grief-informed care
Seven community events reaching over 1,200 community members

Every number represents someone who no longer had to carry grief alone.

Train facilitators and future clinicians
